Auroville is an
international township in South India, 12 km from
Pondicherry. It was envisioned by "The Mother" of the Shri Aurobindo
Ashram in Pondicherry to be a universal town where men and women of all
countries are able to live in peace and progressive harmony, above all
creeds, all politics, and all nationalities. The purpose of Auroville
is to realise human unity. Today Auroville is an expanding community of
some 1600 people from India and 30 other countries of the world.
Located in a rural area of Tamil Nadu, South India, it is surrounded by
13 villages with a population of approximately 40,000 people.

The beach

The
Quiet Healing Centre is set in a beautiful, seven acre beach front
compound, approximately 5 km north of Pondicherry on India's Coromandel
Coast. The area, where the Mother sometimes walked, has a special
healing energy. The Mother wanted it reserved for a healing sanctuary
and it was she who gave Quiet its name.
The therapies offered at Quiet all have at their core the understanding
that man is first and foremost a spiritual being: each honours and
seeks to work in harmony with the body's own deep wisdom: each
recognises itself as a humble tool of the inner spirit who, ultimately,
is the only healer.
These therapies include classical homeopathy, physiotherapeutic
diagnosis and counselling, acupuncture, foot reflexology, polarity
therapy, and pranic healing, aqua balancing ("wattsu" from water+
shiatsu), bio

resonance, chiropody, counselling, mud therapy (fango),
and a choice of massages including ayurvedic massage, deep tissue
massage, relaxing massage, lymph drainage, underwater massage, and
shiatsu. Quiet also offers various classes including hatha yoga,
ashtanga yoga, pranaerobics, self healing and cellular consciousness.
Also, within the compound there are apartments, and beach huts for
rent.
